The Hills star — who filed for divorce from hubby Spencer Pratt last Friday — was in a nostalgic mood on Wednesday.
“Watching old Hills [episodes],” Montag, 23, Tweeted. “I miss you @AudrinaPatridge and most of all @laurenconrad.”
Neither Audrina Patridge nor Lauren Conrad responded to Montag’s plaintive Tweets.
Former roommates and best friends, Montag and Conrad famously ended their friendship over Montag’s boyfriend-turned husband Pratt; among other things, Conrad accused the couple of leaking a false rumor about a sex tape. When Montag attempted to mend the friendship, Conrad brushed her off on camera, quipping, “I want to forgive you — and forget you.”
Still, Conrad — and Patridge — did attend the couple’s April 2009 wedding.
Citing irreconcilable differences, Montag filed for divorce from Pratt, 26, in a Santa Monica, Calif.
Spencer’s explanation? “Well, some say if you can’t handle the heat get out of the kitchen. Heidi couldn’t handle King Spencer’s fame so she got out of the marriage,” Pratt told UsMagazine.com of his wife’s momentous decision.
Lauren Conrad is keeping busy. Super busy. Not only is she releasing her next ‘L.A. Candy’ novel, ‘Sugar and Spice,’ on the same day as her book ‘Lauren Conrad Style,’ she’s also starting a brand-new clothing line.
While LC already has a popular line for Kohl’s, she’s teaming up with some of her best friends on a whole new collection. “It’s a contemporary women’s line,” she tells People. “Where Kohl’s is a lot of daywear, it’s a lot of basics. This will be more specialty basics, more of a boutique line. It will be at a higher price point. It will be very different.”
Although the 24-year-old has had amazing opportunities with the chain retailer, she says “there is a little more of a thrill of doing it on your own.” The collection doesn’t have a name just yet, and we’re still waiting to hear who Lauren is collaborating with on the new project.
In the meantime, get a sneak peek at the cover photo shoot for Lauren’s new style book in this behind-the-scenes video after the jump. Doesn’t she look amazing? What kind of fashion tips have you borrowed from the former ‘Hills’ star?
We’ve watched her work for the likes of Teen Vogue and People’s Revolution, before progressing onto designing her own collection, and all the while decked out in truly enviable outfits!
We can only be talking about Lauren Conrad who, throughout The Hills and every red carpet event since, has displayed a seriously chic sense of style. So who better than she to release her very own style guide?
Her book, Style, is designed to give you advice on what to wear for any occasion, as well as a few fashion anecdotes from the lady herself and some never-before-seen photographs that show some of her shining moments, and some of her biggest fashion faux-pas. Eek! You’ll also get an exclusive peek into her wardrobe, which is reason enough to be wanting this book.
The book comes out in October, but to keep us entertained until then, Lauren has released a behind the scenes video for the book shoot.
She looks like she’s enjoying the photo shoot in the exact same way we would; dancing around to the music, pulling funny faces and twirling around in the dresses!
Lauren Conrad quickly emerged as the girl next door on MTV’s “Laguna Beach” when it premiered in 2007. She was nice enough that girls liked her and cute enough that guys wanted to date her. And once she left home for “The Hills,” Conrad quickly became a shining star on the hit reality-TV series spin-off, letting fans watch her fall in and out of love for five seasons. We also saw LC try her hand at a fashion career and navigate some of the most memorable friendships ever captured on television.
So when Lauren left “The Hills” last year to pursue other interests, many wondered whether LC could live up to high expectations and match the success she’d enjoyed as a “Hills” castmember. But LC more than lived up to the hype, proving she could become a powerhouse mogul.
Shortly after leaving “The Hills,” the first of Conrad’s three novels, “L.A. Candy,” was released and skyrocketed to the top of The New York Times best-seller list. Conrad explained at the time that while the book might seem very much like nonfiction, it was purely a work of her imagination.
“I didn’t take anything specifically that happened to me. The only thing that I did was … it was a way to show not necessarily me, but just the other side of being on a show like ours,” Conrad told MTV News. “For everyone that’s done it, I think you see one side and you don’t see the other. It’s kind of an interesting story to tell.”
As if that wasn’t enough, the follow-up to “L.A. Candy,” “Sweet Little Lies,” also topped the NYT best-seller list, and word soon came that both titles, plus the third in Conrad’s series — “Sugar and Spice,” set to be released later this year — “would be made into a film to be produced by the same brains behind “Twilight.” It was a prospect that LC embraced with open arms, excited about the chance to tell the story of what it’s really like in Hollywood.
“I told them one thing I wanted to capture was that moment when you’re inside a swarm of 20 paparazzi and you can’t move and you don’t know what to do and it’s terrifying,” she said. “And I don’t think anyone’s ever illustrated that before.”
When she wasn’t busy writing novels, LC also managed to design a clothing line, LC Lauren Conrad, exclusively for Kohl’s.
“It’s very much a California brand,” Conrad told us in March. “It’s all about incorporating new trends and putting our own twist on it — relaxed cool without trying too hard,” she explained about the line.
And how does she manage to do it all? “It’s all about fitting it into your schedule,” she shared. “I don’t sleep much.”
Fans will certainly be tuning in to MTV on Tuesday, when LC returns for a final farewell and reunites with her “Hills” pals on the live aftershow, following the series finale of “The Hills.”
How awesome is that going to be?
Show creator Adam DiVello teased, “It will be a big party.”
Lauren Conrad, ex-cast member of ‘Laguna Beach’ and ‘The Hills’ drops by ‘Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List’ (Tue., 10PM ET on BRVO) to help Kathy Griffin’s mother Maggie pick fabric for some moo-moos. But what starts as an innocent favor becomes, for Kathy, some petty drama perfect for a scene from the comedienne’s “The Hills Adjacent.”
Maggie and Lauren really hit it off, and Kathy gets jealous. When she suggests they all go to lunch, Maggie and Lauren have already made plans together — and Lauren’s car is only a “two-seater.”
Later, in an interview on the “show,” Kathy feigns hurt feelings: “I just feel like my mom doesn’t get me. I just feel like LC brings so much drama … Turns out that I’m Stephanie Pratt, and my mother is Audrina. So unfair.”
We are working on the gallery very hard at the moment! We have already added lots of photoshoots, and all The Hills cast photos to the gallery. Please check back soon for lots of more pictures!
Lauren blogged: This Tuesday I make an appearance on “My Life on the D List” at 10pm on Bravo. I have always been a huge Kathy Griffin fan so when they asked if I’d like to be on the show I said yes immediately. Can’t give anything away but I got to spend a few hours with her and her mother (who I loved!). They were both so much fun and I’m excited to see how it turned out.
Let me know what you guys think…
Lauren Conrad beats Heidi Montag by about 2,000 tweeted followers, now making Lauren number one out of all The Hills (Audrina, Whitney, Lo, Kristin, etc).
For the longest time, Lauren has been trailing behind Heidi for the most followers, but has aggressively caught up in the last two months or so.
As we speak, Lauren’s twitter followers has been growing non-stop, while Heidi’s growing status has slowed, before coming to a stop in the last few days.
The real test comes after the 4th of July holiday, where it’s back to business, as everyone returns to their regular habits, determining Lauren’s growth.
However, the final two weeks of The Hills, and the fact the Lauren Conrad’s returning for The Hills finale is sure to give Lauren even more ammo to stay number one above Heidi, vice versa for Heidi and other Hills castees.
But when all The Hills smoke has cleared, everyone will see whether Lauren can maintain her fans, let alone tweet followers.
Fans have been wondering whether Lauren Conrad, the original star of “The Hills,” would be back for one more rendezvous before the show ends forever July 13. A rep for the show confirmed to MTV News that LC will be back for more of “The Hills,” making an appearance on the live show after “The Hills” series finale.
LC’s former “Hills” co-star and current “The City” star Whitney Port tweeted her excitement about the news, writing, “So excited to reunite with all the hillsies!
Show creator Adam DiVello first broke the news on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show Tuesday, revealing, “Lauren Conrad will be at the finale event along with Whitney Port and the whole entire cast.
“It will be a big party,” he added. “We have some stories being paid off in the finale that I think the viewers will find pretty exciting. Everybody’s coming at peace with the stories we’ve been following. I think a few of them definitely found happiness and found what they were looking for.”
Fans will certainly be happy to see LC take one last bow with her “Hills” pals. “It will be an exciting ending,” DiVello promised. “We definitely have a couple of surprises up our sleeve that the cast don’t even know about!”
Earlier this year, Audrina Patridge and Kristin Cavallari hoped for a return from LC. “With her coming back, it’ll be like our older sister coming back and giving us advice,” Patridge said. “It would be fun. It would be nice to have her come back.”
Cavallari added: “The last episode, she comes back, and we all kind of rekindle and, you know, spend our last moment together before it’s all over. I think it would be amazing if she came back. I think it would be great.”
Are you excited to see LC return? Tell us in the comments!
Lauren Conrad has been nominated for her fifth Teen Choice Award for The Hills, and Lauren is not even on The Hills anymore.
Nevertheless, Lauren has some real competition this year for “Choice TV: Female Reality/ Variety Star”, which includes Kristin Cavallari (new Hills star) and Snooki from Jersey Shore.
Other nominees Lauren’s facing are The Kardashian Girls, and Crystal Bowersox from American Idol all vying to break Lauren’s four-year winning streak.
Lauren has got some pretty strong competition this year for Favorite Reality TV Star, but there are those that truly can win it, and those who just don’t cut it.
The obvious contenders are Snooki and The Kardashian Girls, Snooki because of Jersey Shore’s incredible popularity, or The Kardashian Girls who have had a surge in at least ratings almost near Jersey Shore levels, taking on former Hills viewers who miss Lauren and can’t stand Kristin.
It’s obvious Kristin Cavallari doesn’t stand a chance at winning this award, because Kristin came on The Hills too late, Kristin also encountered backlash for attempting to step in Lauren’s shoes.
Forget Crystal Bowersox, American Idol didn’t do anything for her popularity; no one even knows who won American Idol this season, no Adam Lamberts this year, sweetheart.
Does Lauren Conrad stand a chance? Well, Lauren’s got some pretty strong competition as this reporter said before.
But there’s still a good chance only if Lauren creates some buzz around her near the TC Awards, or if Snooki’s popularity has somehow evaporated along with the rest of Jersey Shore.
Another possibility is that Lauren’s fanbase is so strong, that Lauren will overcome the likes of Snooki and The Kardashian Girls and again, with a surf board for the fifth time.
The only other option is Lauren gives in to her fans wishes and makes an appearance on the series finale of The Hills, surely one thing that will be remembered.
However, fans might find themselves deprived of seeing the reality category on the actual telecast of the Teen Choice Awards on August 9th, like they were last year.
Then again, why are the TC’s even popular in the first place? It’s only popular because FOX articifically finds a way to create buzz, just like Avatar and Glee, both made by News Corp.
Lauren Conrad getting a nominated for not doing The Hills proves one thing, that Lauren Conrad’s popularity is so strong, that FOX will somehow find a way for Lauren to beat out the heavyweights of 2010, creating major controversy.
But seriously, Lauren Conrad’s drive for success and relevance after The Hills is the reason why Teen Choice has nominated her for Female Reality Star, where even next year, Lauren could get this nomination again.
Hey guys! I’m a new reporter of the site and i’d like to introduce myself.
My name is Anouschka and I live in the Netherlands, i’m almost 15 years old ( 6 days left ) and I go to secondary school. I play field hockey and spend most of my time behind my laptop. I love my family & friends. I like going out with my friends, but i don’t mind being alone. I love CW series, and of course MTV series like The Hills and The City. I have a sister, but she lives with her boyfriend. My parents are divorced and I live with my mom. Well, I think this is about it! I hope you enjoy my posts!
Contrary to reports circulating on the internet, Lauren Conrad is not engaged to boyfriend Kyle Howard.
There’s “no truth to that rumor,” a source close to Lauren’s camp tells Hollyscoop exclusively. Adding that the engagement reports are “100% false.”
Star magazine had reported that Kyle had popped the question and “Lauren barely let him get the words out before she said yes.” Whatever question it was, it certainly wasn’t about marriage!
She may not be engaged yet, but it looks like Lauren’s unlucky in love curse has finally come to an end. The couple has gone out of their way to keep their relationship as private as possible, which may be why it’s lasted so long.
Lauren and Kyle have been happily dating since August 2008, but have no immediate plans to tie the knot.
When Lauren Conrad’s rescue pup Chloe has fresh breath, the reality starlet knows something is amiss. “She’ll go through our purses and find chewing gum,” Conrad says. “She chews it and then spits it out. I always know when she’s been chewing it — she has minty breath!”
Speaking to PEOPLEPets.com on Friday at the MTV Movie Awards’ Cesar Canine Cuisine Lounge in Beverly Hills, Conrad says Chloe’s silly habit has earned her the title of “naughty” dog.
But the former Hills star claims her Lab-shepherd mix is an easy-going companion, despite her quirks. “She loves wearing sunglasses. Well, at least she lets us put them on her,” she shares. “And she’ll sit there while we watch TV, but I really don’t know which show is her favorite.”
Claiming Chloe is “not pampered,” Conrad, who picked up a personalized box of Cesar Canine Cuisine on Friday with the pooch’s picture on the label, says she feeds her organic dry food and treats her to new stuffed animals when her existing toys get gross.
But she does get a little lenient when it comes to slipping her famous pooch some people food. “She’ll stand there while we’re cooking and wait for us to drop something,” Conrad says. “Anything we’re cooking she’ll eat. We try not to feed her pizza, but we will feed her chicken.” Lucky dog!
Lauren Conrad will not be returning to The Hills for the series finale, according to reports.
The reality show star left the programme last year and MTV recently confirmed that the current season will be the last.
She told E!: “I have no plans to come back. I really liked how I got to leave the show. I felt like it was on a positive note and I feel like they wrapped up my storyline.”
Conrad added: “I haven’t seen an episode since I left.”
Vampiric starlet Ashley Greene is sending young ingenue Lauren Conrad running for the hills! We’re really just being dramatic, but the 23-year-old Twilight star, also known as Alice Cullen, has been named the newest brand ambassador for Mark Beauty—a contract that once belonged to Lauren, author and star of The Hills. But since Lauren is plenty busy packing for her upcoming book tour (Lauren Conrad Style is due out October 2010), this is fab news all around.
Ashley first discovered Mark cosmetics in a gift bag, she told Women’s Wear Daily, but has since fallen in love not just with the pretty product but also with its beautiful philanthropic mission to raise awareness about dating violence. She says,
What really sealed the deal was [Mark's] empowering message to young women, which is something I relate to. But back to beauty. What are the Mark Beauty products that Ashley can’t live without? Think Depuff Eye Gel and Save the Day Anti-Acne Concealer. Wait, did she say acne? Ah, the stars are just like us!
Famed fashion photographer Patrick Demarchelier will shoot Ashley’s Mark Beauty campaign, which will debut in Fall 2010.
Lauren Conrad will be releasing her latest book, a style guide entitled Lauren Conrad Style on October 5, 2010, concurrently with her third novel, Sugar and Spice. This won’t be the reality television star’s first foray into the authoring world. In the past one year, Conrad has already released two novels – the first was the semi-autobiographical L.A. Candy, based loosely on her personal life, while the second was the aptly titled Sweet Little Lies, a continuation from the first book.
Above, the cover of Lauren Conrad’s latest book, Style
The former The Hills cast member has also tried her hands on fashion designing. In 2007, Conrad designed her own clothing collection called the Lauren Conrad Collection, financed by MTV and Tangerine promotions. Subsequently, in the fall of 2009 she produced an exclusive line for departmental store Kohl’s, called LC Lauren Conrad.
Conrad’s growing list of achievements is indeed impressive. At only 24, the former reality television star, fashion designer and author has a good number of accomplishments under her belt – 2 fashion lines, 4 books and a burgeoning bank account. According to Forbes, Conrad is currently raking in a healthy income of $1.5 million annually.
Yet, looking past these statistics, we aren’t sure if she can be exactly considered a “success”. Sure, based solely on financial indicators, Conrad is certainly doing very well for herself. And though it’s easy to look at Conrad as another person who’s just famous for being famous, she does seem to be putting real effort into her endeavors. But a look at the bigger picture suggests all is not as rosy as her bank account would suggest.
Last year, the New York Times reported that Conrad’s first fashion line – Lauren Conrad Collection, will be taking a hiatus until 2010 with hopes that the line will go overseas. According to LC (as she is sometimes affectionately referred to by fans) herself, she would like “to give it (Lauren Conrad Collection) a whole new feel,” before continuing, “but that requires us to take a few seasons off.” {New York Times}
Conrad may like to refer to this break as an effort to take the collection away from public eye and improve it so that it comes back stronger. But this doesn’t remove the fact that the Lauren Conrad Collection was far from a spectacular success. Back then, fashion critics and fans alike complained that the line was overpriced. Casual dresses which were likely targeted towards her teen fan-base sold for upwards of $100. In a telephone interview, she admitted that the collection “wasn’t as accessible and affordable as I wanted it to be.” {New York Times}
So when news of her new book Lauren Conrad Style first broke out, we couldn’t help but wonder if Conrad is really the right person to turn to for style advice. She may have designed two clothing lines, but with celebrity fronted fashion labels, it’s often difficult to determine if the celebrities themselves do the designing, or merely just put their names up on a label while other people do the “dirty” work. Lauren Sherman over at Fashionista.com seems to think so too.
It may be premature for us to judge the book before it has even hit stores, so we’ll withhold a final verdict, but we can only applaud Conrad’s determination to become more than just a reality television star.
